The Secret Pocket is the true story of how girls sewed pockets into their skirts to hide food for other students at residential school. This story is based on Peggy’s mother’s experience at the Lejac Indian Residential School.
Peggy Janicki is an award-winning Dakelh teacher from the Nak’azdli Whut’en First Nation. She holds a Master’s in Education in Indigenous knowledges/Indigenous pedagogies from the University of British Columbia.
